These days its a struggle for me to find things to jot down about. Nothing is remotely exciting. Day in and day out, I do the mundane stuff, nothing different or out of the norm.
I waste valuable time watching movies. Watching movies allows me to escape from my dreary life. A form of mindless escapism and in any case its a healthy one, which is a plus point.
I have been watching, The Thin Man series. Its actually a whodunit murder mystery starring Myrna Loy and William Powell based on Dashiell Hammett's novel. (I like the name Dashiell sounds better than Mowgli or Pilot). The movie was fun to watch and the actors were lovely. The witty banter between Nick and Nora cracked me up. I personally like Myrna Loy, she is just smashing to watch. My favourite Thin Man movie would be After the Thin Man with James Stewart starring in it.
One of my favourite classic movies of all times apart from Jezebel is Rear Window (so its kind of my favourite James Stewart movie of all times). I watched the movie for the first time with my grandmum as a teen and enjoyed it very much. She of coursed raved about Grace Kelly and I shared her exact sentiments.
Next I watched And Then There Were None. A 1945 film based on Agatha Christie's novel of the same name. The ending of the movie differed very much from the novel which is a pity. Oh well, one must keep in mind of what viewers would like. The majority wouldn't have liked the ending in the novel.
Then I wasted more hours on The Verdict, Young Queen Victoria, Hospital and The Sting. Out of the four movies, The Sting starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford really blew my mind away. Mind you, its a 1972 movie and I wasn't expecting much out of it. Honestly speaking I am not a fan of either actors and I didn't think I would enjoy the movie. I somehow have this prejudice against Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (unfathomable even to myself).
When I first read the mini review of the movie on the oscarsite.com, my first impression was, it sounded very much like Oceans 13 due to its similar plot structure. Since I liked Oceans 13, this movie shouldn't be too bad but gosh how wrong I was, it was far better than what I expected. I cannot find anything wrong with this movie even the romance scenes were necessary and enjoyable. Young Robert Redford is indeed good looking *chuckles*.
